2017 saw many new interior design trends that became hot choice for people. While some of these trends were slight modifications of earlier design trends like black finished metals, velvet materials, etc. There were other trends which were new introductions like statements ceilings, bone inlays, etc. that became famous in 2017. Now, there were trends that remained dominant throughout the year and we think would continue to dominate in 2018. While few trends faded by the end of the year.
For the year 2018, we think there are some trends from 2017 which are going to be bigger this year. While there would be few which are new on the list. Let’s take a look at the interior design trends that would rule 2018-
- Velvet- The comfortable velvet has started donning people’s houses. The trend of having velvet in once home furnishing had somewhat faded in the previous years. But, 2017 saw the rise of velvet’s again and this trend is going to get bigger in 2018.
Now, velvet is a luxurious fabric that can be easily used in any part of the room. But, the trick in using velvet is to use it sparsely and not clutter it in the room.
Image Source- Those Patterned Walls - Natural Color Palette- The cool, bright colors that donned 2017 would no longer be in trend in 2018. 2018 would see the rise in use of natural colors like green, blue, soft orange, etc. The best part of using natural colors in your design work is that it can easily be used with metallic items which is next on our list of interior design trends for 2018.

Not only would people use silver accent, but copper, bronze and gold would be in demands too. From hand-painted metallic elements on fabrics to its use in coffee table, we are going to several innovative use of metallic objects and colors.

Geometric patterns can be easily added to any part of the home by the use of wallpapers, house ornaments, pillows, etc. If you are an interior design company, then for interior design logos idea, we think using a geometric pattern can be great.

We are going to see the use of concrete in wallcoverings, countertops, decorative accessories, etc. If you are not among the one who likes to maintain a concrete benchtop or lay a concrete slab, then there’s always an option of using it in light fittings, planters, etc.

Next, people would use signs, embroidered pillows, etc. to spread messages they want. Therefore, the use of typography would be one of the hottest trend in the interior design industry.

Riding on the wave of people’s craving for natural material use of wooden material for interior design would see a great application. Other than the usual places where woods were used, we would see it on ceilings and accent walls.
Image Source- Ventnortourism - Iridescent accents- The iridescent trend is one trend that is slowly pacing up, but due to its high costing it would take some time before we see its use on a large scale. As of now it’s been used to fill a bathroom wall or backsplash with iridescent tile or for smaller accessories like alarm clock, light fixtures, etc. One thing to keep in mind here would be that you should not use too many iridescent items as they capture a lot of attention.
