Although your degree subject is clearly important, and learning as much as you can within that subject is going to help you hugely, there are additional skills you will learn at university that will also assist you in business. Research is one of them.

Your Plan B
No one starts their business with an expectation of failure, nor do they do it knowing that they will dislike being their own boss. In other words, if you find you are not enjoying being a business owner, or you are not as successful as you had hoped, you can apply for other positions because you have a degree.
It’s always good to have this plan B in your mind as it stops you from being stressed about your own business. Networking and Connections
There is an old saying about success being ‘not what you know, but who you know’. This is partly true, but the truth behind the saying is that it is both your network and your knowledge that will bring you the most success. Obtaining a degree will help you with both requirements.
Having a good, strong network of people around you could be the difference between success and failure, or at least the difference between being good enough and being highly successful. If those people can help you and you can help them in return, this network will be worth its weight in gold, and the people you meet at university will certainly make up the bulk of it.
