Perhaps you have just moved into a new home, and you have a newfound garage space that you don’t know what to do with, or maybe you have lived in the same house for years and have never worked out the best use of your external storage building. Either way, converting it into a games room, office or DIY and gardening haven could be the answer. Not only will you have a fantastic new addition to your home, but you will be the envy of friends and family when they come over to visit.
Games room
Arguably the most exciting development you could do with your garage is converted it into a games room. Pool and billiards tables are popular, as are darts boards, with an estimated 17 million people playing darts in the United States as of 2019.
Finding the right games table can be difficult, but reading reviews of new products over at Air Hockey Geek can point you in the right direction. When it comes to buying sports tables on a budget, charity or thrift shops are a superb place to start looking. Used and maybe slightly beaten up sports tables might not look the best, but they are cheap and will stop you worrying about giving them wear and tear.
Install a drinks fridge, a snack bar and a large television screen for watching live sports with your friends.
Office
If you have been working from home more recently, or plan to do so in the future, you might want to turn your garage or shed into an office space. The only difficulty you might have here would be getting a good amount of natural light in, so as not to strain your eyes using a computer. That said, the isolation, quiet and focus that a separate office space provides could see your productivity skyrocket.
Having this separate space prevents your work time and free time crossing over when having to work at home and will annoy your family less as your clutter is kept to itself. You might have to consider using Wi-Fi boosters to get the right signal into the new study; or maybe you are a writer or artist who wants this ‘office’ more as a studio, free of internet, screens and distractions.
DIY and gardening haven
If you’re a dab hand at DIY or have green fingers, then clearing out your garage and organizing it to house all of your tools is a must. You could run a bench down one side for potting plants and have shelving on the other bare walls, setting out all of your equipment in an easy to find, ordered manner.
Disappearing for hours into your DIY haven to build something for the house is a much-needed form of escapism, and this newly renovated, specialized area for you to do so will help you craft the items you desire.
Whatever you do with your garage, seek expert help with the renovations unless you are skilled at such conversions yourself.
