EMC offers numerous options in the Storage Administrator IT storage pathway in all three levels of certification. In each level, participants can choose to earn one of several certifications that offer specialization of solution design and management skills in specific technologies. As an administrator, however, you will be more involved with the implementation and maintenance of solutions that have already been designed and created. Individuals who earn certification in this track will go on to fulfill leadership positions in which you will manage a team and offer recommendations for effectively integrating and using EMC information storage solutions.
Individuals must be either a customer or partner to take any one of the available exams in this storage pathway. EMC divides this track at the associate level – candidates can choose to earn either the Information Storage and Management (EMCISA) or Backup Recovery (EMCBA) certification. Because the EMCBA track is specialized to individuals who want to work in information backup, only two specialist certifications (and no expert certifications) are available– one in NetWorker and one in Avamar. The EMCISA certification allows candidates to earn these two and six other certifications, including ones for CLARiiON, Symmetrix, and VNX technologies, and ones for Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Storage Management – ControlCenter.
Meanwhile, expert level certifications are also available for CLARiiON, Symmetrix, and VNX, evolving the complexity and difficulty of tasks that you can complete on the job. The great thing about the Storage Administrator track is that you can become skilled in multiple technologies. Instead of the track being straightforward and direct in what you can earn, participants are able to choose among several different options and essentially create their own certification program. Each certification can be earned with a single exam; training options are available directly from EMC.
