Canada’s big; a mix or urban, rural, coast and beaches. There are also some stunning mountain spots. It all adds up to a varied mix of locations to choose from for an adventure holiday – one you can enjoy, but also dip your toe in some outdoor activities, set against some mind-blowing scenery. Here are a couple of ideas to get your mind active!
River fun in Ontario
Like the water, scenery – and fancy yourself as a bit of an adventurer, but prefer a relaxed pace? Then why not head for Ontario for a spot of canoeing. You can take to the Grand River, absorbing the beautiful scenery along the banks.
You don’t have to be a pro to take to the water, but you should think about taking up a guided trip. You can paddle along the river, as it meanders from Dufferin County to Port Maitland on Lake Erie. A gentle current will hopefully help you on your way along this wide stretch of water, with something new awaiting you around every corner.
If you fancy something a bit more challenging, or fast-paced, check out local providers for tubing, rafting and stand-up paddle-boarding! And make sure you get yourself kitted out with all the safety gear, including a life jacket.
There are loads of biking and hiking options along the river too!
Ski, hike and bike in the Laurentians
Sat in the Laurentian mountain range, in Quebec, is Mont Tremblant. Its highest peak is a meeting place for visitors from around the world – who come to check out the stunning scenery. It’s also the place to be if you want to ski, hike or bike.
Snow action
The Laurentians are one of the top choices for skiers and snowboarders. So, if you’re heading here in winter for an a, make sure you bring your gear – and get ready for some challenging snow action.
The areas you can get access to stretch across 269 hectares, with 96 trails on four slopes. And there are skill levels for everyone, from beginners to professionals. Mont Tremblant has got some special snow parks too – giving freestylers access to 30 acres of landscaped areas, in three different parts of the mountain. You can also try out a bit of Alpine Touring while you’re here. You can climb with your skis on along a designated trail – and then ski down one of the runs.
If all that sounds really tiring, then make sure you get a good bed for the nights you’re in town. There’s a whole range of different accommodation on offer in Mont Tremblant and the wider Laurentians. Tremblant Sunstar’s condos are worth checking out – you may see something you like!
Ditch four wheels for two
One of the best ways to see Mont Tremblant is to take to two wheels. The area has 20 road cycling circuits, covering all sorts of distances up to just under 80 miles. You’ll pass through some amazing landscapes. For mountain bikers, there are more than 30 miles of trails and more than half are single tracks. If you don’t have a bike with you, you can always rent one locally.
