Backgrounds are used everywhere, in designing various graphic materials and website templates. Sometimes it can be hard to create an original background for your web template or business card but mostly it’s very easy if you know some Photoshop techniques.
A lot of designers use different textures and patterns when designing new background. We do the same.
In today’s post, we will give you simple tips that can be your guide in creating your own backgrounds.

Step 1
Create new document with 600 pixels by 600 pixels. File > New to create or Ctrl+N. Set the Color Mode to RGB and Background Contents to Transparent.
Step 2
Change the Layer’s name to Background. Reset the default Foreground and Background colors to Black and White. Fill the Background Layer with black. To accept editable smart filters we need to change our black layer to a smart object. To do this Right-Click on the Layer and choose Convert to Smart Object.
Now Let’s apply a Note Paper filter. Choose Filter > Sketch > Note Paper. Apply these numbers to Image Balance – 25, Gaininess – 10 and Relief – 8.
Step 3
Choose Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Photoshop adds another filter to the layer. This time set the Blending Mode to Screen.
Step 4
Now Choose Filter > Distort > Glass to apply a glass effect. Change the default settings as Texture – Frosted, Distortion value – 10, Smoothness – 15 and Scaling – 100%. Click OK.
Step 5
Click the Add Layer Style icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel. and choose Pattern Overlay. In the Layer Style Dialog, click the Pattern Swatch and select the pattern preset called Rusted Metal. Increase the Scale to 200%, reduce the Opacity to 30% and change the Blend Mode to Difference. Click OK to get the result.
