Interior decorating doesn’t always come natural to every homeowner, but with some simple solutions and easy craft projects, your home can look like something out of a magazine! Try one of these creative home decoration ideas to update the look and feel of your rooms.
Permanent Flowers
A bouquet of flowers is always warm and inviting, but after just a few days they begin to wither and die. Fresh flowers are beautiful, but they can also be expensive to maintain! A more ideal way to get the design of a flower bouquet without the complicated upkeep is by using satin or faux flowers for a beautiful look.
When purchasing artificial flowers, try to match the style and color to the decor that already exists in the room you’re placing them in. Bold colors like red, purple, or hot pink will make a statement in a room, and an easy focal point. Lighter colors like white, cream, or pastel pinks are subtle, and easier to match with almost any design.
DIY Vases
Recycling old wine or soda bottles and reusing them as vases is a budget-friendly way to vamp up your space. You can paint the bottle with vibrant colors, or just leave it clear and add some flowers. A small collection of different shapes and sizes creates a festive centerpiece, and will look neatly arranged if on a table tray, or on top of stacked magazines and books.
For something that’s a little more intricate and detailed, pull out your hot glue gun for some arts and crafts time! Have fun mixing and matching various jewels, yarn, buttons, or faux flowers to the exterior of your vase for a whimsical touch.
Accent Color
Adding a bold color to a space, such as your living room, or bedroom can create a new and exciting atmosphere. Just by switching out the pillows, adding a floor rug, or accent pieces, like vases can completely alter your environment.
This is a fun and easy technique to use during the holiday season, so that you don’t have to spend a ton of money on decor; you can even reuse pieces throughout the year! A few different color changes every month or so will keep things feeling fresh, and your guests will love seeing your home in new decorating styles each time they visit.
Refurbished Furniture
You don’t have to be a designer of modern furniture or a professional to update old furniture. A simple coat of paint can turn an old and ugly desk into a modern style. Chairs with dirty, or worn-out fabric can easily be replaced by turning a few screws and stapling new fabric over the old.
If you’re working with wood, or anything that was previously stained, make sure to buy the correct paint and include sanding during your paint process. Wood furniture can be tricky to work with, and if not using the correct products, the paint can bubble, turn a different color, or chip.
Use Ribbon
Ribbon crafts come in all shapes and forms, and when using ribbon to decorate your home, there are so many different options to choose from. Brighten your front door with a new wreath using various strands of ribbon for a 3D effect. Tie a ribbon around a glass vase or jar for a quick pop of color!
Turn drab curtains and pillows into something new using ribbon to trim the bottoms, or edges of the fabric. You can find spools of ribbon at your local craft store, or decorating depot, and continue to incorporate it throughout your home decor.
No matter what your style consists of, there’s always a way to enhance your room with the latest in trends and ideas.
