Over the last few decades, renewable energy sources have become progressively more popular and accessible due to a number of factors. In this time, green energy technology has had a huge growth spurt and people are beginning to make the switch to sustainable energy in order to reap the various advantages that it can offer.
Before delving into the realm of sustainable energies, any smart investor will ask themselves if it is a good idea to install solar power in their home or business. To find out whether or not you should invest in solar energy, first, you need to take some time to understand the main benefits of solar power and how this energy source can work to your advantage.
Continue reading to learn more about the power of solar energy and why you should consider investing in solar panels.
Are Solar Panels Worth the Cost?
How much solar panels cost is in constant debate but, when all things are considered, is it truly as big a financial investment as people often believe? There are many aspects to solar panel installations that should be taken into account when discussing the economic pros and cons of using solar power.
Firstly, as any solar panel user will say, generally solar systems work out much cheaper, than continuing to use grid energy, in the long term. This is due to several elements. The first of which is that once a solar panel system has been installed and the initial costs paid, there are no more costs to pay out. Similar to buying a house as opposed to renting, once the house is paid, it is yours to do as you wish and you need not invest more if you choose not to. However, with solar panels, there is no need to spend more because a solar system can last for anything up to 30 years, surpassing the usual warranty of 25 years.
Because the energy you consume in your home or place of business will be powered directly through sunlight, you will no longer have to face varying electricity bills unless you use grid energy for nighttime use. There is also the possibility of installing a battery along with the solar system to ensure the excess energy gathered from the sun’s rays during the day can also power your home or company during the night, thus removing the need to rely on grid energy entirely.
Additionally, there are various economic advantages to using solar power, offered by electricity companies in the form of ‘feed-in tariffs’ for the use of the excess energy collected by your solar equipment and sent directly to the grid as well as tax rebates from government organisations. Be aware that you might need to install a new electric meter if you’re still using the old analog meter. This means those who invest in solar energy for their own properties can usually expect a fast return on their investment and from then on only growth.
Are Solar Panels Sustainable?
Solar energy is one of the newest forms of so-called ‘green energy’ that is being employed worldwide. What this means is that solar panels can be installed on buildings or residential areas or in open fields where they can receive the energy being transmitted through the sun’s rays.
The sun is a renewable resource, it is an inexhaustible form of energy that provides power without polluting. Solar panels can transfer this energy into electricity to power our homes and businesses without causing damage to the environment or emitting greenhouse gases like those produced by using fossil fuels or nuclear energy.
Are Solar Panels Reliable?
Solar power requires very little maintenance and can give the user a practically grid-free existence. But are solar panels dependable? Do they resist the elements? Can they maintain themselves well? The answer to these questions is simply ‘yes’. Solar panels should be cleaned once annually with a hose to remove debris or leaves blocking the cells, but no other maintenance is required.
The photovoltaic (PV) solar cells are strong, effective and durable so there is no need to worry about changeable weather and they work well even in remote locations or places with often cloudy weather, which is why solar energy is a sound investment.
