Screen printing is perhaps one of the most widely used techniques in printing industries. Screen printing can be used on t-shirts, shirts and other apparels. Apart from that, screen printing is also known as serigraphy and presently, synthetic threads and mesh made with polyester use in screen printing. Even people can also use some nylon materials and stainless steel meshes for their screen printing process.
What is screen printing?
In such type of printing, the content, which needs to be put on the end fabric is photographically disseminated through another fine fabric sheet, known as the screen which enables fine printing, given the fact that it blocks off non-printable areas as the fabric doubles up for a stencil. Therefore, it prints in areas where the print is required. To add multiple colors in your printing, you need to use separate screen for each color. The ink which is used is wiped across the screen for it to seep into the substrate which is the end fabric through the pores that are then in the screen. You can imprint various pictures and illustrations on different materials such as t-shirts, linens and ceramic mugs by screen printing process.

- The first step involves, printing out a design on specialized cellophane sheets which are to be used on the screen’s which would further be used for the final print.
- Once the design has been printed, it is then stuck to porous sheets or silk sheets, which when combined with a photo hardener, create a perfect screen which can be used for printing.
- Once the frame has been completely made, after a wash and a final layer of photo hardener, the end fabric is placed below, and color is swiped on top of the screen to leave a print on the t-shirt.
