Beginners often underestimate just how important it is to wear the right gear when they run. Although it is true that running is a relatively low-maintenance sport, having the right basic gear can make a world of difference in terms of your performance, motivation, and safety.
Essential Gear

While they don’t need to be figure-hugging, they should be tight enough that they don’t flap around and create more drag. Nowadays you can even find a good running shirt with pockets to conveniently carry other items.
- Supportive sports bras are definitely important for women who want to run and will reduce uncomfortable movement of the bust. Be sure to the bra you’re interested in beforehand and test that it is supportive enough by jumping up and down.
