We all want to give our dogs the best diet possible, and sometimes you might think you are giving them the best, but are you? Do you really know what is in the food you give to your dog day in day out – probably not!
A lot of the time you are on autopilot when it comes to your own food and diet, and so the same probably goes for your dogs’ diet too. It is time though to stop being on autopilot and to focus on what food you are giving to your dogs and what ingredients it contains.
Healthy Diet
There are ancient grains pet food sorghum strategies & examples that are essential in a healthy and balanced dog food diet, as grains provide your dog with a source of carbohydrates. Sorghum is important for bones and muscle as it contains protein. Both of these ingredients are most likely not included in your dog’s diet and they should be.
Top Tips for Nutritious Dog Food
- Check out the cereal content. Quite a lot of dry dog food contains serious amounts of cereals that will not really provide your dog with the nutrients it requires on a daily basis.
- Check the meat content or fish content. Is there any percentage of that dry food that actually contains any real meat or fish or are they just by-products.
- What about additives. This is just the same as when you are checking out what to eat. What additives does a product contain, if it is loaded with cheap and nasty additives it is probably not going to be of any benefit to your dog and their overall health.
- Colorants. The brighter the food the more likely that it has had colorants added to it. Colorants are not necessary in dogs food, they are usually just added to make the food look pretty and less bland.
- Is there any protein in the food you are giving your dog, if so what content is it and how does it compare to the recommended daily allowance of protein? Are you giving your dog this daily based on their weight and breed.
- What minerals are in the food, and what sources do they come from. Are they minerals that will benefit your dogs’ diet?
Moving forward it is essential that you take some time to think about what your dog eats and how they behave. If food it loaded with additives it could well be making them hyper. Researching ingredients that are used in your dog’s food will ensure that you are giving your dog the best possible diet that you can on a regular basis.
A well balanced, hearty and nutritious diet together with fun, stimulating regular exercise will ensure that your dog has the best possible life it can have and that any problems related to poor diet such as bad skin, dog dander, pale appearance or poor fur are minimal – or even better non-existent.
