If you happen to be going on a hiking holiday to Switzerland, you may want to make sure you’ve had a good meal before you set off so you have as much energy as you’ll need. Whether you plan to go camping or you want to stay in one of the incredible luxury homes in Switzerland you’ll need to ensure you keep your strength up. Our advice is to stay somewhere beautiful so you can rest your weary bones somewhere special, but as we’ve already established it’s important that you get a good meal. This is why we have done a spot of research and discovered Switzerland’s best places to eat. Let’s take a look at these eateries now:
Pro Tip: To visit these restaurants you can book car service online at Traserbas.
Haus Zum Rueden
Found at Limmatquai 42, 8001, Zurich, Haus Zum Rueden, serves up Mediterranean, European, and Swiss dishes. The food at this restaurant is nothing short of delicious and it is always nicely presented. The restaurant itself has a pleasantly curved wooden ceiling that is complemented by the wooden walls and the lights that elegantly make the dining area a little brighter. If you are looking to enjoy a spot of fine dining, Haus Zum Rueden is worth a visit as it really is something quite special.
With orchids sat in weaved baskets decorating some of the tables and with a team of waiting staff who are more than happy to make your meal a special one, this restaurant is a must-visit. Situated in a traditionally-styled building, the restaurant may not be immediately obvious to visitors, so you may want to look out for a red and white plaque that is sat on the side of the restaurant and archways that signal its entrance.
If you’re looking for a meal recommendation you may want to try the Fillet of Irish beef with pepper sauce, it’s simply divine and well worth a try. You may be pleased to know that the menu is written in both German and English making it easy to read. Haus Zum Rueden offers a wonderful fine dining experience and is worth a visit.
Pinte Besson
Located at rue de l’ Ale 4, Lausanne 1003, Pinte Besson serves up Swiss, European and French cuisine. Decorated from top to bottom in dark oak and with a curved ceiling, Pinte Besson may well be one of the most beautiful places to dine. With a yellow exterior that’s filled with shuttered windows the restaurant may not be what you expect as its exterior does not scream style, however, it’s certainly worth visiting.
With the occasional light hanging down from the ceiling and very comfortable chairs, this restaurant is a little different. The tables are akin to picnic tables and although you may not expect picnic tables in a restaurant it makes your visit even more interesting. The food here is sumptuous, it’s beautifully presented and it’s clear that every meal is cooked to perfection. We recommend the Entrecote Parisienne beef with green peppers and the home-made tatin tart with vanilla ice cream. Beautiful! Opened in 1780, Pinte Besson was originally a wine shop, but in 2000 it became a restaurant and the owners were asked to keep its historic décor, and it’s wonderful that they did. With very tasty meals on the menu and a delightful atmosphere, Pinte Besson is indeed worth visiting.
Arcobaleno
Found at Hauptstrasse 18, Unterseen, Interlaken 3800, Arcobaleno is home to Mediterranean and Italian dishes. Pizza lovers should visit this restaurant at least once during their stay in Interlaken as they are sure to love the home-made pizzas that have been expertly cooked. While the restaurant is proud to serve some very tasty pizzas it also has a lot of other delicious items on its menu such as the pasta with tomatoes, cheese, basil and rocket. Serving up some great meals, diners can enjoy sitting in the restaurant that has been elegantly decorated and while the dining area is not the largest you will come across, it is quite intimate and offers a more relaxed experience than you would find in a fine dining establishment.
With an outdoor seating area that’s offered to those who want to make use of the nice weather, Arcobaleno has something for everyone. Whether you wish to tuck into a pasta dish, some pizza, or some steak and rice, you won’t be disappointed. Offering a 3-course lunch or a tasty dinner, the restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Post Hotel, and is open to everyone. With seating that accommodates 110 people and a great reputation for serving good food, Arcobaleno is ideal if you want to sit back, relax and enjoy some good food.
While there are some lovely places to eat in Switzerland we recommend you visit Haus Zum Rueden, Pinte Besson and Arcobaleno. Each of these restaurants offers you something different but they are all wonderful places to dine. If you would like to enjoy a fine dining experience before you head up a mountain you may want to book a table at Haus Zum Rueden. Alternatively, if you would like to enjoy a meal somewhere beautiful and crammed full of history then Pinte Besson it is. Finally, if you wish to dine in a restaurant that has a relaxed atmosphere and good food you may want to book a table at Arcobaleno. Wherever you decide to dine, you will be greeted with impressive menus, tasty food and a memorable time.
